The establishment of the Workers Party, "Am Ehad" is an important step in this direction, because it was established by
workers leaders, and is funded by NIS 30 from each member, and not by millionaires. But in order to defend our rights, etc.,
it is not enough to just vote for the workers party. To make sure it really represents our interests, we should become active
members, participating in decisions, and making sure that its leaders do, indeed, represent us.
We should also help the party support and organize struggles in our workplaces and communities.
If we have our own representatives in the Knesset, they can fight for our rights. However, Parliamentary representation on its
own is not enough to secure for ourselves decent wages and conditions, because under the present system, there's not enough
money for it. This is because the few billionaires who control the economy run the country for their fat profits
(they make the real decisions concerning our lives; the Members of Knesset just argue over the scraps they throw us).
The only way we can really secure decent lives for all, is by taking the major banks and concerns away from the billionaires,
and placing them under democratic workers control and management. This vast wealth could then be used for the benefit of all.
Our Goals
- Build Am Ehad as a mass democratic fighting workers party, with a socialist programme.
- For Workers MKs to earn a workers wage.
- Massive investment in health and education, which will be free.
- A significant rise in the minimum wage.
- Cheap housing for all
- A decent government pension for all workers from the age of 65.
- Cancellation of all privatization plans.
- Bring the main companies which control the economy into public ownership under the democratic management of the workers.
- Setting up a workers government which will run society and the economy along socialist lines –
to serve the needs of working people.
